WHAT
WE DO

At Teretta Foundation, our work is driven by one core mission: to provide safety, hope, and opportunity to vulnerable children in Tanzania. We focus on those who have faced abuse, neglect, and poverty, ensuring they receive the care and support they desperately need.
Our aim is to give these children a chance at a brighter future, where they can live without fear and grow in a loving, protective environment
Our Key Areas of Impact.

Safe Homes for Abused Children
At the heart of what we do is building safe houses for children who have suffered physical and sexual abuse. These children often have no one to turn to, and every day they live in fear.
We provide them with a secure, loving environment where they can heal, grow, and just be children again. Our safe homes give them a chance to escape the cycle of trauma and abuse, with access to basic needs like food, shelter, and education

Education for a Better Future
We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. That’s why we fund the education of children who would otherwise have no opportunity to learn. From primary school to college, we cover school fees, supplies, and even transportation costs.
Since starting our work, we’ve helped send 26 students to college, empowering them to pursue their dreams and build a better future for themselves and their communities.

Community Support and Outreach
We are deeply committed to supporting the wider community around Kilimanjaro.
Through our various projects, we’ve:
-
Taken 540 children on life-changing day trips, allowing them to experience new adventures, including swimming and their first-ever bus rides.
-
Provided over 30 wheelchairs for children with disabilities, giving them mobility and a new sense of freedom.
-
Supplied enough food to feed a local school for two full years, ensuring no child goes hungry.

Medical Aid and Support for Children with Disabilities
Children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable in Tanzania, often neglected or even locked away. Through our partnerships, we’ve provided medical aid, mobility devices like wheelchairs, and other necessary support.
We’re proud to have worked with our local partner, Johnson Dickson, to provide over 30 wheelchairs to children who had been hidden away due to their disabilities.

Rescue and Rehabilitation of At-Risk Children
Some children are at immediate risk, living in unsafe environments where they face physical abuse or neglect. In extreme cases, we’ve stepped in to rescue children who were in life-threatening situations.
Our most recent efforts helped save an eight-year-old girl from severe abuse. Now, she is safe in our care and has access to education and support, giving her the chance to recover and rebuild her life.
